Elizabeth Van Auken
Born in Michigan, and raised "all over" including Texas, Michigan, England, and Spain, she draws on her travel and life experiences to create, rich, vibrant text, that speaks to the heart of the reader. She brings in her love of literature, poetry, art, children, and family to each piece.
She completed her bachelors degree at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and went on to get her masters degree from Eastern Michigan University. She has taught pre-k through college, and worked as an adjunct professor of writing and literature. She is a successful grant and proposal writer, earning several million dollars from private, and government sources for a wide variety of projects. Her short stories and essays have appeared in Texas Magazine and the Houston Chronicle. She is married to Doug and the proud mom to Hannah, Aaron, and Abigail who keep her smiling, on the move, and grateful.
